FAM Back-to-School Scavenger Hunt! July 28 - August 10, 2008



EVENT DATE: July 28 through August 10, 2008

Calling all players! The Etsy Street Team, the Fabulous Artistic Moms (aka FAM) have a Fling game for you! A little Back-to-School (B2S) Fling Scavenger Hunt where each of us have hidden a little owl in one of our Etsy listings, or find the text “B2S” in the item description. All you need to do is find one of those owls in five different participating shops, submit your answers to Pandy's or AbleMabel and you’ll be entered to win one of several FAMtastic FAMBucks prizes! In addition to the FAM Spring Fling Scavenger Hunt, all purchases made in the participating FAM Shops on Etsy (please scroll down for shop links) will automatically be entered in the drawing.

HOW TO PLAY:

Each participating Etsy store has hidden the image of our FAM Owl or the text “B2S” in one or more of their listing descriptions or listing photos. Find the owl image or text in 5 participating shops and be entered for a chance to win! All purchases made from participating shops during the promotion will also be entered into the drawing.

Send your guesses to: Pandy's or AbleMabel on Etsy and please include the following information:



- Your Name
- Your Etsy Username
- Your email address (we need to contact you if you win :o)
- The URL to the item where you found the owl or B2S text!
- You need just one owl from 5 different shops!


Drawing will be held shortly after the end of the event. The winners (yes, winners!) will be notified by convo or email. All entrants agree to have their names announced in the Etsy forums and on blogs.

PRIZES:

The prizes being awarded are FAM Bucks which are FAM Team coupons used in participating FAM stores on Etsy. FAM Bucks are codes that entitle the bearer to receive discounts in participating FAM stores. FAM Bucks allow the winner to choose their prize from any of the participating FAM stores! What a great prize!!!

A great big THANK YOU to all!

Okay so I have no finger nails left, my mouse is worn out from clicking around in forums asking - well begging - for votes, my Facebook friends are probably very over my group messages and my hubby could tell you the link from memory he has seen it so much.... but now voting has closed for the 2008 Chick Designer Contest.
I have to say a HUGE thank you to every one who voted for Giggleberry's flags! The response was overwhelming! If I could send you all a personalized thank you card -just like this great one from a fellow Etsy seller macaroniandglue I would!

There were votes from complete strangers just wanting to lend their support, votes from family members who may be a little biased in choosing their favorites, votes from valued customers, votes from other Etsy sellers, and votes from fellow FAM team members.
The support and good luck wishes from everyone was amazing and very much appreciated! Special mention must go out to FAM team members andreabaker, emcisaac, Holycraft, & sghulett who started threads, posted the competition details in other sites & forums, kept threads alive and generally made the voting process allot of fun! But I know many others were sending good luck vibes and voting any way they could, again I say THANK YOU!

There was some great entries and stiff competition, some with a great support team voting for them which kept it very exciting right to the end. The voting will now be tallied up and the results will be posted on the Chick Adventures blog in the next few days. I'll let you all know how Giggleberry Creations goes as soon as possible......... it's just fingers crossed now!

New Fabric Tags!!

I just love when the postman comes with a parcel.... you would think I'm a child the way I head straight to the letter box when I hear the motorcycle approach! Today's surprise were my custom fabric tags I had made by a great seller on etsy, greenbeansnstrings.
It was an Alchemy request I made early last week and I am thrilled how fast they were completed and posted (international even) and they came out great!!!
When ordering I wasn't sure if I should have them made with my etsy web address or just Giggleberry Creations but greenbeanstrings went above and beyond the call and did a quick goggle search of Giggleberry Creations to see what a possible customer would find in the situation of only knowing the company name and found that the whole results page is me so I went with it!
They are exactly what I was after and are now on each and every item I have in store!!! I'll be ordering my next lot as soon as these run low!

Everyone likes a little competition - right?

I came across this great competeion at the fun Girl Indie Blog and thought I'd pass on the details as it sounds like some fun and another great way to get our handmade goods seen - It is the 1st Annual 2008 Designer Chick Contest brought to you by those chicks at Girl Indie (whew that is a mouthful!).

"The contest will be set up in 4 categories: For Mom, Baby Gear, Children's Accessories and Children's Clothing. You can submit your product in one category only. To enter, just send an email to lisa@izabegraphicdesign.com with one web-resolution photo of your product, category, your full name, your business name, website address (if applicable) and email address. Please put "Designer Chick" in the subject line. :) Anyone can participate! All we ask is that the item MUST be handmade by you. This can also include embellishing existing items. Photos should not be any larger than 475 pixels wide and can contain no watermark (ie. business logo, co name, etc).

The deadline for submission is June 30th, any entries sent in after that date will be discarded. We will post all of the submissions on July 14th and our readers (you guys) will have one week to vote on them. Each person will be allowed to vote ONE time in each category. Once the voting is tallied the winners for the categories will be announced on July 23rd. We will then take those 4 winners and put them together for voting on the Grand Prize Winner. Again, they will be posted on the blog and everyone will have a week to vote. The Grand Prize Winner will be announced on August 1st."

Giggleberry's first Feature!!

A HUGE Thank You to Sally of Polka Dot Market for doing a feature on her blog Polka Dot Mom about Giggleberry! It looks great and is a great way to see how others see Giggleberry's products.
I was lucky enough to come across her blog by accident a little while ago and found my self reading al of it, and even ading some of the items to the memory bank for future gift ideas so I subscribed to it and now get email notice of all the new and fun bits and pieces that are out there and I didn't know about!! Now I have been included in the fun! Thanks again Sally!

Lots of ordering ready for lots of making!

It's Saturday afternoon here on a cold winters day and my husband and two girls are all asleep in various rooms of the house trying to recover from the flu! I've got a husband in bed, one daughter asleep under her quilt on the couch and the other daughter wrapped up and tucked into her cot. So with the house being so quiet - a rare and beatiful thing - I'm in the back room of the house with the laptop, quietly ordering and therefore spending madly online.
I have just ordered some great blue, aqua and brown Micheal Miller fabrics from a fellow Estian (fabricsupplies) and from another (ravenlp) 90, yes 90, yards of ribbon in various colours.
It might take a few days to get to me but it looks like I've got a few full weeks ahead with my sewing machine...... as long as I can continue to avoid the flu...
