Soccer Party - Food & Drink.

1 & 1/2 wks till my little man's soccer party so I'm getting my head around what we'll all be eating. The 'normal' thing we do is a good old BBQ so I thought I might do something a little different this time - still simple, but with a bit of a fun twist!
All the food we'll serve will be given new names that I plan to write on these awesome 'Menu Cards' custom made by Cake Ink. To match the invite & theme.


On the menu (so far):
Meatballs - Meaty Soccer Balls
Chicken Wings - Left & Right Wingers
Chipolatas - Star Striker Sausages

Tomato sauce - Red Card Sauce
Mustard - Yellow Card Sauce

I'll also have a few little treats:
Cake Pops (still tossing up if I take on the challenge of making the soccer ball cake pops from my new Bakerella's Cake Pop book or not), popcorn served in THESE cups, Soccer ball foil wrapped chocolates from Sweet As and a few other goodies - oh and of course the cake!!

For kids drinks I have little bottles of water (even found ones with a green lid to match the green, black & white colour theme!!) but to make them even more awesome I bought these super fun Referee Shirt Drink Holders from Polka Dot Market - seriously, how cool are they?!? And the best part is they will double as party favors! Perfect!!


I spotted these plates, cups & serviettes from Spotlight ages ago that I couldn't walk past them. I also couldn't resist one of THESE 'grass look' plastic table covers.


I have been floating blog land for inspiration & ideas on how to pull this all together and hope it looks even half as fab as one of these soccer parties I found:

Rainbow of Ribbons - birthday cake!

99% of you who know I am planning a Rainbow of Ribbons party would be forgiven for assuming that of course the cake will be one of those AMAZING rainbow layer cakes that are popping up everywhere.


Truly I think these are just stunning not to mention super clever!! (the above pic is from HERE with the how to for the cake too) One day I do want to make one just to say I had but for Milla's upcoming party I can't help but want to 'be different' from most other rainbow parties so I have gone another route with the cake.
Now, I don't want to promise anything as spectacular as the famous rainbow layer cakes but I will have fun making what I have planned and am going to keep it a surprise.... only 3 wks to wait, you'll be right ;)

Rainbow of Ribbons - party food!

Only 4 weeks to go now until Milla's 3rd birthday party. So sticking with the Rainbow of Ribbons theme I have started thinking about the food.
The party is just a casual BBQ at home with immediate family so the good old meat and salad is a 'no brainer' but how can serve a few things to tie into the colourful theme??
No panic - once again Google has come to my rescue! Check out these ideas:




PERFECT! I can do a veggie and dip platter and a fruit and yogurt platter in rainbow!! Yay!

RED: Strawberries, Apple, Watermelon / Capsicum, Cherry Tomatoes, Cabanossi
ORANGE: Orange, Rock melon, Mango, Mandarin / Carrot, Pretzels, Rice Crackers
YELLOW: Banana, Pineapple / Cheese, Rice Crackers
GREEN: Grapes, Honeydew Melon, Pear, Apple, Kiwi fruit / Snow peas, Celery
BLUE: Blueberries (this one is a little tricky)
PURPLE: Cherries, Grapes / Purple Cabbage

Any other suggestions?

Then of course no kids party is complete with out a bit of sweet stuff but I am going to be 'that' mum and limit the amount. So I have plans for a small candy buffet - Nothing spectacular just a small table with some rainbow coloured goodies to nibble on. These are some of the fun sweets I have found for it:

Skittles - NOTE: The regular Skittles have red, orange, yellow, green and purple ones in the pack. If you want blue ones to complete the rainbow you need to source the Wild Berry Skittles. I found them at an international candy store.
