This whole Firefighter theme for Harris' party on Friday night came from Harris spotting a fire engine cake in one of my cake books so of course that will be the cake I will attempt (wish me luck).
I have found a great 'How To' video (below) on YouTube that I plan to follow and have already hit the supermarket for all the bits and pieces I need for it.... finger crossed it gets the pass mark by the kids!
I plan to present the cake on my gorgeous black cake stand I got from Tracey Lau so I thought I would tie it into the firefighter theme a little bit by adding a length of yellow and black Washi Tape I found from The Kawaii Notebook - so simple but effective, don't you think?
Two days to go...

Firefighter Party - Craft Activity!
Originally spotted HERE I absolutely love this super easy and cheap craft for Harris' Firefighter Party coming up. The kids that will be coming range in ages from 3 to 7 so a craft that they can all be involved in and have fun with is tricky to find but I think these paper plate helmets are perfect.
My kids and I gave them a test run today and literally put these together in about 8-10 mins so I thought I would share a quick 'How To'...
You will need:
Red, yellow or black crayons, pencils or textas
White paper plates (I happen to have oval shaped ones in my cupboard so that's what we'll use)
Scissors
Glue
Gold paper
Black Sharpie
With you crayon colour of choice colour the entire back/bottom of the plate.
Next, cut a badge shape from the gold paper and write the child's name on it.
Take your scissors and cut around 3/4 of the inside of the plate then bend it up to create the front and top of the helmet.
Stick your name badge on the front.
Pop it on and parade around in style in your new Firefighter helmet!!
Cute hey??

Firefighter Party - Favours!
I like the idea of including a little favour for the party guests into the party set up or game. For example I used soccer jersey bottle cozies HERE and butterfly nets HERE that were part of the event but then one each went home with the kids. So my thinking cap went on and I did a google search to look for something I could use for Harris' Firefighter party that is coming up. I had spotted THESE very cool and unique fire hydrant drink bottles used in a few parties in the US and was struggling to find them n Australia until one random search hit the jackpot! I quickly put in my order from Shoalhaven Kids Parties and had them just a few days later - perfect!
With the addition of a name tag on each of them they will look fabulous on the table but then will be a great take home gift for all the kids.
But wait, there's more! Remember I mentioned that Harris happens to have some real firefighters in the family? Of course I couldn't miss the opportunity to ask for some favour bag help. Now each child will also take home a balloon, tattoo and magnet all with the emergency 000 number on them. Plus a firefighter themed pencil and hose party blower all in a Fire Chief party bag.
I really like how the bag has a good amount of things in it and isn't stuffed full of sweets but I couldn't resist adding one lollie to the mix when I found THESE very cool fire extinguisher spray candies!
I think the kids will be pretty chuffed with their stash!

Firefighter Party -Invitations
Yep, straight into another party to plan here (YAY!) My little guy, Harris, turns 3 in just 2 short weeks so after a flick through the much loved cake books I seem to be accumulating Harris chose a fire engine cake and from there the theme was decided - Firefighter!!
With a firefighter uncle and Grandfather Harris has a few firefighter bits and pieces already that will come in handy for decorations etc but first we had to think about the invitations. Out came Harris' real firefighters helmet and his dress up firefighters jacket (just a black jacket I put yellow duct tape all over) and I snapped a handful of pics.
I then found this Firetruck Custom Photo Birthday Invite by
Mohr Invitations for Less on etsy. A quick email sent with the photos, a request to change a few words around and to add some more yellow to the invite and we had our invitations ready to print.
Cute hey? I love the wording:
Invites went out late last week and were received very well - looks like we'll have a house full of little Firefighters on March 2nd - woohoo!!

Skiing themed 40th birthday party - Party Pics!
What a great night! Lots of laughs, great food, fabulous company and one happy birthday boy!
With all the prep work done and ready we headed to the restaurant and quickly put the table together as guests were arriving, most of whom remembered to wear their Ski Pass Invites (see HERE). The place mats (see HERE) and decorations (see HERE) were a hit with the guests as well as the takeaway coffee cup favours (see HERE) and lots of fun was had with the ski themed photo props too (see HERE)
The restaurant had a wandering accordion player playing and singing on the night so we managed to get him to serenade Matt with a Bavarian style Happy Birthday song.
To top of the night out came the amazing 3D mountain complete with edible snow, skier and trees! Made by Party Cakes by Leora the three tier chocolate mudcake with crushed candy-cane chocolate buttercream filling, covered with ganache and peppermint flavoured fondant was both yummy and looked fantastic!!
We had a fun and late night that will be remembered for quite some time!!

Skiing themed 40th birthday party - Favours!
After a weekend of skiing and with a trip home from the slopes it's always handy to have a cup of coffee to turn to... with this in mind I decided on the party favours that will be handed out at the end of hubby's 40th birthday party tomorrow night.
I bought some disposable coffee cups and lids from ebay then asked Samone from Cake Ink. (man, she puts up with allot from me) if she could design a 'cup sleeve' to put around the cups....
Ta Dah!! How cool are these?!?
To Officeworks I went and printed them off then with some scissors and glue our favours look fabulous!
In the cups are Ferrero Raffaellos (snow balls), Swiss chocolate bar, some chocolate snowmen and a handful of snowflake party sprinkles too. A yummy treat to be enjoyed on the way home from Matthew's Mountain Lodge :)

Happy Friday Find
With Summer winding up in just a week or so (not that we have had a 'real' summer here in Sydney this year) all the gorgeous handmade stores I adore are starting to release 'sneak peaks' of their Autumn/Winter ranges. So many new things and I find myself already buying a few new winter goodies for both my kids!!
When I spotted this sweet Bunting Pinny by Sugar Plum Tree I fell in love - how super sweet for my little girl, who will ONLY wear dresses at the moment, and perfect for layering in the cooler days!!
Happy Friday xx

Skiing themed 40th birthday party - Photo props!
Remember I was telling you HERE how I would be using some old ski boots as part of the table decorations for hubby's ski themed 40th this weekend? Well this is what they will be used for - photo prop holders!!
The clever Samone of Cake Ink. designed me some fun and funky 70's style ski themed props. Beanies, ski googles, moustaches, glasses, mittens, fluffy hats and more. I printed them off, cut them out, mounted them on foam core then attached to a paper straw (so easy).
With these on the table for the night and lots of cameras handy I think we could have quite a few laughs!!

Easter Bunting
It seems there is a want for sweet Easter themed bunting this year so hearing your requests I have been sewing away.
When I spotted this pastel fabric I knew it would be prefect for some Easter bunting. Small and medium sized Easter eggs print in both floral and striped patterns on a white background fabric then sewn into a soft blue grosgrain ribbon makes this bunting one super cute addition to your home for Easter in just a few short weeks.
With a handful of these cuties already been snapped up I have a very limited amount of the banners left soooooo first in first served!
Email me at giggleberrycreations@gmail.com if you would like to order one of these quick before they hippity hoppity hop away

Skiing themed 40th birthday party - Map Placemats!
Just 2 weeks till hubby's Skiing themed 40th birthday party. His actual birthday was yesterday so we celebrated with gifts, a special dinner at home and I may have had a big bunch of helium balloons delivered to him at work - teehee.
With a few props and decorations sorted to throw around on the restaurant tables for the night all sorted I wanted something a little more personalised for the guests place settings so I came up with the idea of a Ski Map Placemat with words of things in Matt's life (hobbies, job, kids names, etc) as the markings on the map.... I then threw this idea at the design legend, Samone, from Cake Ink. with a pretty please and she had a play.
Check out what Samone came up with - Awesome!!
It's probably a bit small for you to see details but there are markings like 'Amy Alps', 'Poker Peak', 'Harrison Hut' & "Father Free Fall' and the tallest mountain on the map is marked as '1972 (hubby's birth year) Miles Above Sea Level' - cool hey?
Samone has also designed some coasters
and straw discs for the table setting to match the Ski Pass Invites
I think the table is going to look fab with all these goodies put together! What do you reckon??
