Minecraft Easter Hat Parade

This year was the last year my babies (soooo not babies anymore but I can dream) had an Easter hat parade to be a part of. At the Jnr Giggleberry's school they only do a hat parade up to a certain grade so Little Miss Giggleberry has finished and Master Giggleberry's final year was this year.
With that being the case I let him have free reign of choice for what to have on his head...... we hit Pinterest together and he spotted a Minecraft inspired one and exclaimed "YES". Decision made.
I purchased a Minecraft Creeper head (I probs could have made one but, ugh, too hard) and then added green cardboard ears and white cardboard teeth to turn it into a Creeper bunny.
Master Giggleberry and I then painted some foam easter craft eggs together. Then, using electrical tape of all colours we cut tiny squares and turned each painted egg into a Minecraft animal/character/TNT.The hot glue gun then got busy to attach them to the Creeper bunny..... TaDah!

One much loved hat by my boy, his mates and teachers.... too fun!

Easter Hat Parade!

Today was Milla's preschool Easter Hat Parade and Easter party. We had a note come home from preschool a week ago asking us to make an Easter hat to wear for the parade so off we went to the $2 shop for bits and pieces and created a bunny bonnet!!


We were also asked to bring along a plate of food to share so we made bunny cups of popcorn


The party was lots of fun, Easter decorations, Easter colouring in, Easter music and Easter food galore!


The kids all did a great job showing off their hats in the parade.


Then just as the parade ended a large fluffy (kind of scary looking) bunny hopped into the preschool!!! It was exciting but the one snap I managed to get of Milla with him looks like she is terrified of him - really she just had a mouth full of Easter egg!!

Fabric Scrap Easter Bunny Wreath - DIY

With a rush of blood to the head yesterday I decided to make an Easter decoration for our front door... You all know I love a good wreath :)


So with 2 wire hangers, some duct tape, extra wire I had in my cupboard and a little muscle I twisted, snipped and pulled until I had a cute bunny outline frame. Sorry I have no pics of the process - I was having too much fun!!


Next was the perfect chance to use up some fabric scraps from my sewing room. I picked out a selection of pastel fabrics and some left over Easter egg fabric then went about cutting HEAPS of little strips of fabric about 4-5 inches long and 1 inch wide.


Then it was just a matter of tying all the strips onto the wire bunny frame one at a time, this is time consuming but with my little guy snoozing off a cold and some music playing in the background the time passed faster than I thought it would.
I like the rough fraying edges of the fabric after being handled - kinda a rustic look about it.


One large and pretty bow around his neck to finish it off and I'm pretty pleased with the end result - one cute fluffy looking bunny to greet people at our door over Easter!! Yay!!

Easter Bunting

It seems there is a want for sweet Easter themed bunting this year so hearing your requests I have been sewing away.

When I spotted this pastel fabric I knew it would be prefect for some Easter bunting. Small and medium sized Easter eggs print in both floral and striped patterns on a white background fabric then sewn into a soft blue grosgrain ribbon makes this bunting one super cute addition to your home for Easter in just a few short weeks.

A little Easter break!

The Giggleberry family is off on a mini break over Easter with family to visit Grandma and Papa Giggleberry (YAY!). With Easter falling on the same weekend as ANZAC day this year, Australians have an extra long weekend to look forward to and I am especially spoilt as Tuesday is a public holiday and my birthday! Hooray!!


Our Etsy store will stay open over the long weekend and you are more than welcome to place orders but please be aware no mail will go out until Wednesday the 27th of April.
Any emails that come through will be replied to as always but with a little delay as we plan to relax, catch up with family, eat chocolate and enjoy the days off.

Dying Easter Eggs - DIY

This weekend coming we have a few people coming over for brunch so being only 1 week away from Easter I'm thinking I might decorate the table with a bit of an Easter feel.
I have a plan to use a few things already in my cupboard for making the table look fun but needed to have some Easter eggs for the final touch so what a perfect opportunity for a little creative session with the kiddies!

You'll Need:
Hard boiled eggs
Food colouring
Wax crayons
Hot water
White vinegar
Tongs or slotted spoon
Small bowls
Drying rack
Paper towel or newspaper (to avoid your work space ending up a multi colored mess)

I hard boiled the eggs last night so they would be cool and ready for colouring today. We started by drawing some patterns on the egg shells with crayons.


Then placed them in little bowls of food colouring, water and vinegar mix (a how to video and mixture quantities can be found HERE)


Leave them in the liquid until the eggs are the desired colour then with your tongs or slotted spoon remove them from the liquid and place on a cooling rack to dry.


Milla LOVED helping me with these!! and I think she will be rather chuffed to see them used on the table when or guests join us for brunch on Sunday.

Hippity, Hoppity, Happy Easter

Wishing you all a wonderful, chocolate filled Easter!

Did the Easter bunny hop past your place this morning? Did he leave any goodies behind? There was a small bundle of mini chocolate eggs hiding throughout our home that we had to go hunting for - LOTS of fun!
Once the excitement of the Easter eggs settled down a bit we got ourselves organised and headed off to brunch at my sister-in-law's with our Hot Cross Cupcakes in hand.




These were a BIG hit and seemed to get gobbled up pretty fast... it was fun watching people eat them as they found the mini chocolate Easter egg that is hiding inside - YUM!

Hot cross buns, cupcakes and chocolate eggs - all rolled into one!

YUM! When I found this recipe I knew straight away Miss 2 and I would be making these for Easter brunch at my sister-in-laws place on Easter Sunday.
I wish I could remember where I found it originally (sorry) but I do remember it was marked as 'kid friendly' and 'easy' recipe so why not get your kiddies helping and make these for an Easter treat.

Cupcakes:
125g butter, at room temperature
¾ cup icing sugar, sieved
3 eggs, at room temperature
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 2/3 cups self-raising flour, sieved
1/3 cup full-cream milk
12 small solid chocolate eggs

1. Preheat oven to 180°C (160° fan-forced). Line tin with cases.
2. With electric beaters on high speed, beat butter and sugar until pale and fluffy. Add eggs 1 at a time, beating well to incorporate before adding next egg. Add vanilla with last egg. Mix in flour and milk until just combined.
3. Evenly divide mixture between cases. Push chocolate egg into centre of each so it is covered with cake mixture, but not touching bottom of case. Bake for 20 to 25 mins or until cakes have risen and are cooked through. Remove from oven and allow to cool completely.

Icing:
2/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
¾ cup sweetened condensed milk
1½ tbsp golden syrup
50g butter, extra
½ tsp vanilla extract, extra
75g white chocolate

1. Combine sugar, condensed milk, syrup, extra butter and vanilla in saucepan over medium heat. Cook for 5 mins or until sugar has dissolved. Stir regularly. Remove from heat, allow to thicken and cool slightly before spreading over cakes.
2. When icing is cool, melt chocolate in bowl in microwave for 1 to 2 mins on medium heat. Stir every 30 secs with metal spoon. Transfer to piping bag and pipe white cross on top of cakes.

I plan to finish off the Easter look by popping these into some yellow Spring Bunny cupcake wrappers from The Cupcake Wrapper Co - cute hey?!
