Happy Friday Find!

Spring is here for sure! We have had some absolutely stunning sunny days and the kids even played under the sprinkler last weekend it has been that warm - gorgeous! My girl has been quick to pull out all her favourite summer dresses she couldn't wear during winter and discovered lots now don't fit!
I'm thinking it's time to get the sewing machine into action for something other than bunting and make some pretty dresses.
How sweet would this Lined Bunting Edge Dress be on a little girl? and the pattern is HERE from Sew Set for FREE! Nice!
I can see some brightly coloured bunting edge coming right up!
Happy Friday xx

Chalk Drawing Photos

I am always taking photos. Seriously, I have my camera or iPhone at the ready almost all the time ready to snap a fun or silly or lovely or precious or pointless moment. 9 times out of 10 the subject matter is my children. What can I say - I think my kids are rather fabulous (biased much?) and I adore having snaps of time caught that I can share with grandparents, family and friends.
So when I saw the idea of using simple chalk to create a fun backdrop or prop for a unique photo opportunity I knew I had to have a go.
This is a GREAT activity to do with your little ones. My kids love drawing and colouring in the 'picture' before they jump right in for me to snap away. Milla, who is 4 and a bit of a Disney fan, tells me "it's just like Mary Poppins when she jumps into the picture"... awwwwww
The above pic is one we created to use for Milla's butterfly party invites and below are some other we set up while I was babysitting my niece and nephew a few weeks ago
I was then convinced by my niece that it was my turn to be in a photo rather than take them all so we came up with this bunting inspired one... LOL
The limit to these super fun pics is only your imagination... Have a play with some chalk and your kiddies and be sure to share what your come up with!

Hanging the kids art in style!

Who doesn't love a good colouring/drawing/gluing/painting session? I know my kids do!
My poor fridge was starting to be taken over by gorgeous artworks the kids wanted to display for all to see so I needed a better solution for showing of these master pieces, but what??

The light bulb moment hit me when I saw this image on Childhood 101

But instead of painting the frames onto the wall or using decals I thought I'd cheat and just spray paint some old frames. All the frames are from either eBay or the Salvation Army store and cost me no more that $15 all together. I tried to find ones with interesting detail on them for some fun. With a coat or two of glossy red spray paint I was ready to turn the boring wall above or dinning table (the place the master pieces are created) into a artwork gallery wall - Easy!

Now to pull out those crayons and glue and get creating!!

Theme Day - Autumn Art!

Oh how I LOVE autumn. I love the changing colors, the cool change in weather, the smell, the dropping of leaves - everything about it!!

In Australia at the moment it is Spring so this may seem like a strange theme to choose but since hubby and I have just got back from the States where Autumn, or Fall as it's called more often, is in full swing and I went crazy with the camera taking photos of every tree with changing colors (that one of my the pics above) I thought what a great way to share some gorgeous handmade items in celebration of a season I love so much.
Now if you go to etsy and type into the search bar Autumn or Fall you'll have thousands and thousands of items to sift through so I decided to narrow my search to Autumn inspired children's art work and just look at some of the wonderful ones I came across...

Firstly I came across this gorgeous print from The Blue Egg perfectly named "Autumn". How cute is the tiny little furry friend in her pocket??

Next find I came across was this cute print from Flutter Brush called "Umbrella". I want an umbrella just like this one!!

Another great one that captures the Autumn wind is called "Up in the Clouds" from Chantal Marie.

I realized that all my finds have had little girls in them so I went on the hunt for a boy print and found this stunning piece from Joseph Blake called "Starting Over" - It's so very sweet!!
