50m custom order of bunting!!

Early last week I was asked if I could fill a custom order. A custom order for 50 metres of brightly coloured bunting!
"Of course" I said and I jumped right in!!

With all the flags cut and pinned I was ready to sew!

It was a good feeling to be sewing the final flag of the 250 into place on the 50m ribbon!

My little 'assistant' wanted to snap some pics too (thanks Milla)

Hanging things on my clothes line has never been so festive!

This order is off in the post ready for the festival it was ordered for - Hooray!

50 metre bunting custom order!!!

On Monday just gone I had an email come through asking me 2 things.
1) Can I make 50 metres of bunting?
2) Can it be made and delivered by the 25th of this month?

Well it took me back for a few minutes and with my sewing machine away being serviced I was a little hesitant but I what the heck - I jumped in!

So with my sisters sewing machine still on loan and the request for 2x 25 metre lengths of buntings in all different and bright coloured fabrics I have been cutting, ironing and sewing up a storm. I am thrilled to report I completed the whole order in just 5 days and sewed the last flag of the 250 flags into place just last night.

Then with the beautiful weather that Sydney turned out for us today I took the bunting into my backyard to snap a few pics before I package it up to send it off.

It's so long it filled my clothes line completely!!!

And with it all hanging up and looking so delicious I couldn't help but take a few snaps of it with my Hipstamatic iPhone app

It was ordered for a children's services event and I have my fingers and toes crossed that I get to see pics of it in use - if i do I'll be sure to share.

'The Great String of Bunting' - Part 3 (final installment)

Hooray!! I have just opened my emails to find one from the gorgeous Lauren of Belle Laide Events. Lauren is the person I worked with to make 'The Great String of Bunting' - 60 metres of bunting in soft yellows, blues and a touch of red. You can take a look HERE for Part 1 of the creation process and HERE for Part 2.
The beach side family event that the 60 metres was needed for was held last Sunday. Lauren tells me (even in the stinking hot weather) the day was a great success and that the bunting "looked gorgeous" - Yay!
Lauren was also very lovely to attach some pics that were snapped at the event of 'The Great String of Bunting' in use.

Thanks so much, Lauren, for letting me be a part of your event!!

'The Great String of Bunting' - Part 2

Done Diddely & delivered!! That's right all 200 flags have been cut, sewn, ironed, attached to their 60 metres of ribbon and hand delivered!!
There were a few bumps along the road like the ribbon I originally ordered for the banner not showing up on time (in fact it still hasn't arrived!) and the customer deciding they would like a floral fabric thrown into the mix - but neither of these things deterred me from completing this fun challenge in time... with a little help from my two kiddies for having an extra long snooze on the perfect day :)
After sewing the final flag into place yesterday I just had to snap some shots of 'The Great String of Bunting' to share.

My very well behaved 3 kids and I hand delivered the bunting this morning to Belle Laide Events and have been told there will be a professional photographer at the event the banners are to be used at, on the 22nd of November, so I will be able to see (and share) some snaps of 'The Great String of Bunting' in use - Stay Tuned!

'The Great String of Bunting' - Part 1

There is nothing like a challenge to get my blood pumping and last week I was asked to do exactly that... Giggleberry was contacted by the lovely Lauren of 'Belle-Laide Events' to see if I was up to the challenge of making 60 metres (65.6 yards) of bunting for an up and coming event and that she would need them delivered by November 13th. With a deep breath I jumped at the chance!!

I have named this order 'The Great String of Bunting'

For 60 metres of bunting I need to make 200 flags so after Lauren told me she was after soft blues and yellows with a small splash of soft reds and that the bunting will be used for a family beach side event I was able to go fabric shopping. I always love going to the fabric shop and this was no exception.
These are the fabric I bought... I love the bold stripes of the bottom blue and red fabrics - they just scream beach to me!

Fate was on my side to get this order started this weekend as my kids had an extra long day time sleep so I was able to get all 200 flags cut out and ready for sewing. Between Saturday night and Sunday night I have managed to get all the flags sewn together, flipped in the right way and then organised into the colour pattern they will be sewn onto the ribbon in.

As this blog post title suggests this is Stage 1 of 'The Great String of Bunting', I will keep you up to date with the next part of the process as it happens. For now I have to wait for the custom order of ribbon I needed to place for this large banner.
